Being a good Dad often involves taking your boys out for some good fishing, and catfishing is one of those awesome times that kids can have with their Dad. Now I don’t want to deceive you here, because I can attest from my own fishing that the baits that catch the largest catfish are perch and shad. So let’s look at 2 of those other baits. Blood bait is the first bait I want to tell you about, and it just might be the best catfish bait for producing a lot of strikes in the shortest amount of time. Blood bait has a strong odor that catfish love, and the bait will breakdown slowly as the bait sits in the water. This will put some pieces of your bait to floating in the water, and thus create a sort of trail for the catfish that will lead them to your hook. Nice huh? There was an afternoon not to long ago I was fishing in a pond with blood bait, and just killed the catfish.

Chicken liver is the second bait that I would like to tell you about today. Chicken livers just tantalize catfish, because of the blood and scent it put in the water. Just attach a good bait saver or treble hook to your line, put a chicken liver on there, and go to town.
